It happens every day in schools, parks, malls, on the internet and cell phones across our country. One in five Canadian youth report being bullied regularly.
Cottonwood Mall is requesting your support for “We Stand Together Against Bullying”, an awareness campaign that has been planned in preparation for Pink Shirt Day, Feb. 27. The mall wants to send a clear and powerful message that the community will stand together against bullying.
Organizers are offering every person in the Fraser Valley the opportunity to express their support by writing a note of their commitment to stand up against bullying, says Dawn Lamotte, marketing director with Cottonwood Mall.
“Using your smart phone, email your group photo (students, teachers, grandparents, friends, co-workers, etc.) holding your note of support to me at dlamotte@morguard.com. We will print each photo and display them on our ‘We Stand Together Against Bullying’ wall which is located in the Cottonwood Mall food court.
These photos will not be used on the internet, Facebook or the mall’s website.
“We hope this campaign will offer children, parents, caregivers and educators the opportunity to talk about the effects of bullying and help raise awareness of the problem,” said Lamotte.
