A team of cyclists rode into Chilliwack and passed sandwich boards, featuring stories of children with cancer, on a stop here during the Sears National Kids' Cancer Ride on Wednesday.
The 18-day, cross-Canada journey is completed by two teams of cyclists. The 15-member team that arrived in Chilliwack is on the 'short' team that rides about 165 kilometres per day. The 'long' team rides 220 km per day.
Together, the two teams will cycle across the country from White Rock to Halifax, and along the way each team alternates between riding and driving.
All money raised goes towards in-hospital programs for childhood cancer and research.
This is the ninth year for the fundraiser and more than $10 million was raised in the first eight years. This year's goal is to raise $1.2 million.
