Scouts in Chilliwack to host fundraiser bottle drive in new year

1st Fairfield Scouts and 6th Chilliwack Scouts collecting bottles and cans to raise money for camping, gear and more

Scouts throughout Chilliwack want folks to hold onto their empty bottles and cans from the holiday season as the youth gear up for their fundraiser bottle drive in the new year.

Kids with 1st Fairfield Scouts and 6th Chilliwack Scouts will be collecting drink containers on Saturday, Jan. 4 at two different locations – one on the northside in Chilliwack, and another on the southside in Sardis.

All money raised stays here in Chilliwack to help fund the two local Scout groups.

Members of 1st Fairfield will have a drop-off station at the Scouts Hall (47130 Hope River Rd.) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., while 6th Chilliwack will be set up at Carman United Church (7258 Vedder Rd.) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Both groups will also be going door-to-door to collect bottles and cans in their respective neighbourhoods on that same day.

This annual bottle drive helps fund camping trips, events, scouting gear and other activities for kids aged four and older.
