A fundraiser in Chilliwack and the surrounding area has brought in hundreds of warm blankets, winter coats and more for those in need.
Donations for the annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive, hosted locally by the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board, came in to several agencies in Chilliwack, Agassiz and Hope from Nov. 12 to 19.
This year, they collected 182 bags/boxes of clothes and food, including lots of brand-new items.
"The quality was definitely better than in years before," said Steve Lerigny, executive officer of CADREB, adding that they were "very grateful" for what they received.
The items were packed up on Nov. 20 and delivered to Ruth and Naomi's Mission, Chilliwack Salvation Army, Agassiz-Harrison Community Services Society, and Hope Northwest Harvest Church.
The bins of food were "absolutely full," Lerigny added.
"(I'm) pretty happy with how it all came together but as always, the need exceeds donations," he said. "We encourage everyone to look for opportunities to give in some form."
