Progress photojournalist, Jenna Hauck, picked up a silver award on the weekend during the annual Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards at the River Rock Casino in Richmond.
Hauck placed second in the B&W Feature Photo category (circulation over 25,000) for her image of Laura Molnar and her three-year-old daughter, Ainsley, dancing outside the Chilliwack Library during Music and More on July 11, 2012.
The judge(s) wrote: "It's a small detail, but the two peoples' hair swinging out, mirroring each other, gives the image a little extra zip."
The Ma Murray awards recognizes both editorial and advertising aspects of community newspapers and is hosted each year by the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspapers Association.
