A free program to support kids who have loved ones living with substance use disorder and/or mental illness is being offered in Chilliwack.
‘Kids in Control’ is a free eight-week education-and-support program for children aged eight to 12 where they can learn how to control their emotions and understand healthy boundaries.
Some of the goals are to: gain a better understanding of their loved one’s mental illness, provide ways to deal with anxiety and stress, bust stigma and dispel misinformation, and more.
This is a program through the BC Schizophrenia Society and the Chilliwack Youth Health Centre.
It runs on Tuesdays from Feb. 4 to April 8 from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. (no sessions on March 18 and 25) at 6325 Matheson Rd., near Tzeachten Sportsfield.
Registration is required by emailing kic2025winter@gmail.com.
