PHOTOS: Irish Wolfhounds converge on Mission’s Heritage Park

BC Branch of the Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada held its 41st Specialty Show in Mission on Saturday

The BC Branch of the Irish Wolfhound Club of Canada (IWCC) held its 41st Specialty Show in Mission on Saturday, May 27.

This marks the second time the the event has been held in Fraser River Heritage Park.

The Irish Wolfhound is an ancient breed, shrouded in myth and legend thought to have existed since as early as 273 BC.

Classified as a giant breed, wolfhounds are the tallest and heaviest members of the hound group. They are large, rough-coated, long-limbed dogs that hunt by sight. Male Wolfhounds can grow to three feet at the shoulder, and weigh up to 190 pounds.
