Nothing says compassion like a hand-made hat.

Judging by the number of knitted and crocheted items collected in the Realtors Care Blanket Drive 2018 from around the Fraser Valley, lots of people took the time to care this month.

“The volunteers were quite excited to see there were so many hand-knit items,” said Steve Lerigny, an executive officer at Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board. “People took the time to care and were not just donating their old stuff. They put loving hands to the task and it was amazing.”

They collected just over 250 bags in Chilliwack for the annual Realtors’ blanket drive, 35 in Agassiz and 10 bags in Hope.

The bags contained a variety of warm winter clothing, new socks, hats, scarves, new coats and of course, lots of blankets, Lerigny said.

“The totals may have been down a little in terms of the volume but the quality was very high,” Lerigny said.

Last year they collected 325 bags in the annual blanket drive.
