Bob has been without family connections for 40 years, and he’s hoping to change that.
Outreach support worker Ashley Johnson works with adults with disabilities like Bob, whose last name is being kept out for privacy reasons.
Johnson said that for the first time in four decades, Bob reconnected with family in Mission, something that has been “going great.”
Bob now has an opportunity to meet his family in Ontario, and Johnson and others are getting together to fundraise and support him to achieve this goal.
“He currently FaceTimes them once a week and dreams to go meet them,” Johnson said.
They held a pub night on May 26 at Corky’s Irish Pub to raise money for Bob, but they have more on the go as well.
They are doing a bottle drive and will pick up anytime, anywhere. And they are doing a Twisted Cowboy beef jerky fundraiser for Father’s Day. Packages are $12 for an 80 gram package.
For the bottle drive, either drop off at the Chilliwack Bottle Depot using the number 604-798-6671, or contact Johnson for pickup at 778-684-1767. You can also call Johnson at that number for the beef jerky, which goes for $12 a pack, and they are taking orders until June 10.
