There’s a fundraiser garage sale happening today (Saturday, June 19) in Chilliwack benefitting Kenyan widows and orphans.
It’s by Chilliwack-based charity Voice of Hope. There are more than 60 women who run the group which has been working to improve the quality of life for Kenya’s impoverished widows and orphans since 2013.
Today’s giant garage sale started at 8 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. The items have been laid out on tables in an open barn with one-direction traffic. Additionally, there’s a hotdog sale and a coffee truck by Barking Irons Roastery also on site.
Last year, Voice of Hope held two garage sales which brought in $17,000.

And from bottle and can donations, they’ve raised an additional $3,500, this year alone.
The garage sale to support their endeavours is at 7350 Barrow Rd. in Chilliwack from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additionally, people can make donations to future garage sales and drop off items for their bottle drive at the above address, which is the Westbow Construction company office. Look for the “Bottles and cans drop off” sign on the south side of the grey building with red doors.
