This 'We-Go-Swing' at Bill Kelly Park is the first fully-accessible swing in Chilliwack and only the second of its kind in B.C. The swing was made possible with a donation of $145,000 from Bill Kelly.

People are invited to swing over to the Landing in Chilliwack to try out a new piece of inclusive playground equipment and have a free hot dog.

Chilliwack’s first swing for people of all abilities is open at Bill Kelly Park, and the City of Chilliwack is celebrating the new addition with public event, Hot Dog Day in the Park, on Friday, March 14.

Called the We-Go-Swing, it's the first in the community and only the second of its kind in B.C. The swing was made possible with a donation of $145,000 from Bill Kelly.

“We are grateful to Bill Kelly for his contributions to the Landing,” said Mayor Popove. “The addition of a fully accessible swing to our community demonstrates our continued commitment to accessibility and inclusion in Chilliwack.”

In the past six years, Kelly has contributed more than $450,000 towards various play structures around the Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, including the accessible playground, and the "junior diggers” playground. The accessible playground was created with universal design principles to offer unique play value and experiences for children of all ages and abilities. The junior diggers playground features three excavator-themed play structures to reflect Kelly’s longstanding local business, Kel-Mor Enterprises.

People can join Kelly, plus the mayor and city councillors at noon on March 14 to try out the swing, and have some free hot dogs and refreshments. Bill Kelly Park is located at 9145 Corbould St.
