First Party in the Park a wrap, three more to go

Popular Chilliwack summer series will end July 26 with Abba tribute

The first Party in the Park of Chilliwack’s summer went off according to plan, despite the threat of rain.

The event was the first of four Friday nights in downtown Chilliwack that combine live music and performances, food trucks, a vendor market and fun activities for all ages. This year, the music is almost entirely local, and booked by local musician Trevor McDonald.

“I have completed the 2019 entertainment schedule for the Chances Chilliwack Community Stage and we have a few requested acts returning to the stage as well as a bunch of first time acts,” he announed earlier this summer on the Party in the Park Facebook page. “This year as always, we are 99 per cent local talent and we have an incredible mix of musical genres from country to hard rock, indie to pop every Friday night in July!”

The music goes “live at five” every Friday night on the stage in the park, while the rest of the event fills the streets of downtown. The event closes down at around 9:30 p.m., with children’s activities wrapping up earlier in the evening.

Friday, July 12 acts will be Evolutionz Dance Studio, followed by Funk Romance, the Lost Boys (a family band from England with an age range of 12 to 58), Black Maxx, Free 4 All, and ending with Dealers Choice.

On Friday, July 19, Chilliwack Dance Studio gets things started. They’re followed by the Eddy J Band, Dion Wiesbrod, Rev’d, Blues Hoodoo and finally Six Gun Romeo.

The final Party in the Park of the year is on Friday, July 26. It will feature Capella Dance Studio, followed by Ashley Pater, Calvin Remple and the Roadside Attractions, Stiletto, Deaf Planet and Arrival, the ultimate ABBA tribute.

Every week there are variety of activities to keep kids busy, including martial arts demonstrations to bouncy castles and face painting.
