A Chilliwack church is pairing up with a local charity for an evening donation drive for flood victims.

Eden Mennonite Church and Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society are hosting an event for flood and food security relief on Friday, Dec. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Normally, members of Eden Church host a Christmas banquet around this time of year, but with so many people affected by flooding and landslides they decided to take the money which normally goes towards the banquet and donate it to local families in need.

They will be collecting non-perishable food items, as well as clothing (including shoes, winter boots, socks and gloves), toiletries and baby supplies (food, diapers, wipes, formula, clothing).

The event takes place Friday, Dec. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Eden Mennonite Church (46551 Chilliwack Central Rd. at the corner of Broadway Street).
