A beloved community event in the heart of one of Chilliwack’s most popular tourist locations is back.
Cultus Lake Day returns to Main Beach on Saturday, June 24 and includes live music, local breweries and children’s attractions.
The day will be celebrating Cultus Lake Park’s 91st anniversary.
The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Cultus Lake Volunteer Fire Department at the fire hall. It is by donation and goes until 10:30 a.m.
Then the parade begins to roll at 10:30 a.m. (parade check-in and line up is at the plaza). Beginning at Lakeside Beach Club, the parade goes down Sunnyside Boulevard, along First Avenue, then Second Avenue and back to the plaza.
Starting at 11:30 a.m. will be heaps of activities and entertainment. People can browse the farmers’ and artisans’ market while children can play in the obstacle course and inflatables bouncy houses.
Food vendors, a beer garden featuring local breweries and wine, and live entertainment will also be on site.
The children’s activities will go until 3:30 p.m., the market until 6 p.m., and the food, beer garden and live entertainment until about 9 p.m.
Initially, fireworks were planned for the event, but the Cultus Lake Park Board community events and engagement committee cancelled the display on June 20.
“Considering the current climate and multiple wildfires across Canada, it has been decided that the fireworks show would be better suited for a future event when it is safer to do so,” the committee announced on social media.
