A Chilliwack youth club will be collecting food items later this month for the local Salvation Army food bank.

The Mount Cheam Pathfinder Club is hosting an evening drive-thru food drive on Wednesday, March 31.

The youth group is from the Chilliwack Seventh-Day Adventist Church and is open to kids and teens age 10 to 16.

“We have 235 pathfinders in B.C. and two million worldwide, and community outreach is a big part of what the kids participate in,” said Loriann Kriwokon, deputy director of the Mount Cheam Pathfinders.

Typically, the youth would do a canned food drive in the neighbourhood around their church every year, but because of the pandemic they had to do it differently for 2021.

“As well as this arrangement, our group participates in other community outreach activities such as Adopt-a-Road, and Bags of Love, which have been very successful for us this year,” Kriwokon added.

This year’s drive-thru food drive takes place on Wednesday, March 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Chilliwack Seventh-Day Adventist Church located at 46024 Riverside Dr. COVID-19 protocols will be in place.

All items will be donated to the Chilliwack Salvation Army Community Food Bank.
