Adult abuse is a serious problem, but it can be addressed. Chilliwack Healthier Community (CHC) is holding a presentation called It’s Not Right, which is intended to educate and engage people on the issue of older adult abuse and neglect.

The presentation is open to all and is free, but space is limited. Registration can be found at the Eventbrite event page (see link at theprogress.com/community) or CHC’s Facebook page.

After this presentation, participants will be able to recognize warning signs and risk factors of adult abuse and neglect. They will learn small, practical steps that add up, and make a difference in a life, and in the community. The topics discussed will include recognizing different kinds of abuse, how to respond to abuse, and how to use a caring, compassionate approach.

It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at Cooke’s Presbyterian on Wellington Ave. The presentation has been offered by the BC Community Response Networks all over the region. This event has filled up quickly in other communities, so register quickly to reserve your seat.
