Soroptimist International of Chilliwack’s biggest fundraising event is back.

The fifth annual Pajamas and Pearls gala celebration will once again be held in-person after two years of COVID restrictions.

Funds raised from the event go to the Live Your Dream awards program which supports women who are the primary breadwinner for their family, and who are enrolled in a post secondary institution.

Pajamas and Pearls includes dinner, silent auction and dance. There will be prizes for dressing in pyjamas and pearls.

The Live Your Dream award is a signature program of Soroptimist International clubs globally. This year celebrates the 50th year of the program. Since 1972, about $35 million has been awarded to tens of thousands of women around the world.

Here in Chilliwack, the local club has given out four Live Your Dream awards this year for a total of $6,000.

“Our goal, is to increase the number of cash awards we can give, while not decreasing the amount recipients receive, therefore we need to continue our fundraising to reach that goal,” said Susan Barber with Soroptimist International of Chilliwack. “With the support and participation in our community we know we can achieve this. We’ve raised it to $6,000 over the past few years, we know we can support more women.”
