Chilliwack’s seniors are being celebrated on Oct. 1, with a special event.

The Chilliwack and District Seniors Resources Society will be hosting a free drive-through breakfast for National Seniors Day.

“We really want to acknowledge and celebrate our seniors during these challenging times,” says Kelly Velonis, executive director of the society. “Due to COVID we had to cancel our annual Pancake Breakfast and Seniors Fair. This will be our way of letting seniors know they are cared for and supported.”

Following distancing measures, they will be handing out a bagged breakfast as well as a goody bag to all seniors who visit, and the event will be attended by Mayor Ken Popove.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Hall side parking lot. There are enough breakfasts for 100 seniors.
