The Chilliwack Salvation Army has an overabundance of items and will be giving them away for free next weekend.
Anyone who is in need of laundry detergent, toothpaste and eggs can head over to the Sally Ann church on Brooks Avenue and pick the items up via a drive-through system on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The laundry detergent is a decent sized jug of liquid Tide, said Don Armstrong, Chilliwack Salvation Army food bank coordinator.
They will also be giving away packages of goldfish snack crackers.
Folks picking up items are not required to wear masks as volunteers will be placing the items directly in the trunks of vehicles, Armstrong added.
The local Sally Ann held a similar event back in May where they handed out 10,000 dozen eggs and 4,000 pounds of cheese – first to healthcare workers and first responders, and then to the general public.

The upcoming drive-through giveaway will be taking place Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Salvation Army Church (46420 Brooks Ave.).
It is open to anyone who’s needing the items.
