The two were both born in 1956, grew up in Rosedale, and went to school together. They both started donating blood at the age of 17, have each donated 153 units of blood over the years, and marked their 150th donation in 2014.

Their certificates were part of CBS's annual Honouring Our Lifeblood awards for the Fraser Valley region where 25 milestone blood donors (50th, 75th, 100th, and 150th blood donations), volunteers, a stem cell donor, and peer recruiters were recognized, many from Chilliwack.
