A Chilliwack raffle for an Abbotsford children’s hospice centre brought in more than $1,500 last week.
The Mount Cheam Lions held a raffle to raise money for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice – Dave Lede House (Abbotsford). A total of $1,671 was raised and handed over to Chantelle Bowles from Canuck Place on Dec. 22.
The raffle was for three handmade wooden items created by Mount Cheam Lions member, Al Cain.
First prize was a 54-inch mahogany bench which went to Cristen Gleeson. Second prize went to Cherie McDiarmid who won an inlaid wooden jewelry box with interior dividers and a removable tray. And third prize was a starburst circular wooden key catcher won by Judy Swerdferger.
The $1,671 raised will cover more than half of a day of respite care at Dave Lede House in Abbotsford. Nearly 50 per cent of Canuck Place’s 818 families call the Fraser Valley region home.
“The Mount Cheam Lions want to thank the people of Chilliwack and surrounding areas who bought raffle tickets to help us raise money for Canuck Place in Abbotsford,” said Lions member Helena Tetteroo. “With your kindness, you have supported our community through this very trying time of COVID.”
