An annual vehicle-themed fundraiser, marking its 10th year, will help send young Chilliwack kids in need to summer camp.
The Vision Tree Charity Car Show, hosted by Chilliwack Alliance Church, is set for Labour Day on Monday, Sept. 2 in the church parking lot.
"We would like to raise $20,000 this year and make it the best one ever," said organizer Wayne Massey. "Last year we raised $17,022.50 by which we were able to send 38 kids to Camp Kawkawa for a week."
The event will bring in funds to send underprivileged kids in Grades 3 to 5 from Robertson Elementary School to summer camp in Hope next year.
The vehicle-themed fundraiser is not just a classic car show. There will also be an autocross event, static display of famous movie cars and hot rods, a remote control display with an action-packed racecourse, and a Hot Wheels race track.
Steve 'Elvis Elite' Elliott will make an appearance, plus there will be other activities and food.
The 10th annual Vision Tree Charity Car Show is on Monday, Sept. 2 in the Chilliwack Alliance Church parking lot at 8700 Young Rd. The event starts at 8 a.m.
Registration to enter the classic car show is $20, and payment is on-site only.
"Over the years we have successfully raised approximately $81,941 towards scholarships for Robertson Elementary School kids to go to camp. In addition, our church has contributed another approximately $29,434. to cover the additional costs of sending those students who applied and were approved by the school to receive a camp scholarship."
