It’s amazing how a tiny fruit can bring people together.

The Camp River Hall Ladies Strawberry Social has been a sweet event that brings families out each June in Rosedale. The social has been taking place for at least 70 years, with one of the earliest mentions of it in The Chilliwack Progress back in June 1949.

This year the social takes place on Wednesday, June 19, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and as always, it will be held at the Camp River Hall.

Admission is by donation, with a suggestion of $4 per person. The Camp River Ladies will be serving up strawberries, naturally, along with ice cream and cake, along with coffee, tea and cold drinks.

They’ve also planned a cake walk, with all the cakes being homemade and decorated with “Camp River flair.”

Camp River Ladies is a group of women of all ages that works to bring the Rosedale community together with events throughout the year. All proceeds earned go directly back to the community.

Camp River Road is located at 50246 Camp River Road, next door to Meadlowlands Nursury.
