Unity Christian wins basketball barn-burner

The sixth-ranked Unity Christian basketball boys played in the annual Christian Schools tournament this weekend, placing sixth out of 15 teams.

The highlight was a Friday night matchup against arch-rival Langley Christian (ranked eight provincially).

Down by 17 in the fourth quarter, UC went on a 22-4 run to win by one.

Nathan Vugteveen (Grade 11) scored five points in the final 10 seconds, including a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Vugteveen finished with 23 points.

Unity Christian travels up the freeway for a rematch with LC Tuesday night.
