Sardis cyclist fifth in national time trial

Sally Johnson of Sardis finished fifth in the 2017 Global Relay Canadian National Masters Road Cycling Championship Time Trial, which was held in Vancouver last weekend.

The two lap 20 kilometre course on closed roads included a steep climb from Kitslano Beach up the Spanish Banks to the University of British Columbia.

She finished the race in 36 minutes, 26 seconds while the leader, Vancouver’s Richele Frank, clocked in at 34:23.

Johnson, 47, rode for the ‘Just Giver 4 Parkinson’s Disease’ (JG4PD) Cycling Club, which raises awareness of Parkinson’s Disease in B.C. The Chilliwack branch of the club holds weekly training sessions Tuesday evenings throughout the summer at the Agassiz Speedway.
