Mission's Luke Morris will be playing for the UFV Cascades next season.

Mission Secondary School's Luke Morris has signed with the University Fraser Valley Cascades.

The announcement came Tuesday morning.

Morris was named the AA most valuable player during the provincial championships earlier this month which the local school won.

Morris, a six-foot five-inch forward, averaged 22 points per game in his senior year of high school basketball, pulled down 10 rebounds per game.

"Luke has the ability to stuff the stat sheet and do a little bit of everything on the court. He handles the ball well, rebounds, shoots, passes and also can go inside and score near the basket," said UFV head coach Barnaby Craddock. "Luke has been in many big games throughout his high school career, and by leading his team to the provincial title he showed he has the winning mentality to contribute in big games at the CIS level."

Morris joins Max Neuman and Rav Dhaliwal as recruits committing to UFV in the past several weeks.

"I'm extremely excited to be given the opportunity to play at the next level for Coach Craddock and one of the best basketball programs in the country. I've watched UFV play many times over the last few years and love how they compete and play as a team. I'm looking forward to being a part of that and studying at UFV," said Morris.

The UFV Cascades men’s basketball program are the defending Canada West silver medalists and ranked fourth in the final CIS top 10 poll. UFV participated in the CIS “Final 8” national championship tournament in Halifax, Nova Scotia, finishing fourth in Canada.
