The Chilliwack Chiefs have added a defenceman to the 2021-22 roster mix, getting a commitment from Thomas Messineo.

The 2002-born blueliner is a Massachusetts product who has been St. Sebastien’s School, a successful prep school program. Messineo captains the team and his best on-ice tool is reportedly his high IQ and his ability to make good decisions in all areas of the ice.

Last season he collected 13 points in 28 games.

“We are really happy that Thomas made the decision to commit to Chilliwack,” said Chiefs hockey boss Brian Maloney. “He is a player that Brad (associate coach/GM Rihela) and I have been scouting for a couple of seasons now, and we know his 200-foot capabilities will be a great asset for our defensive unit next season.”
