Chilliwack Minor Baseball hosting provincial party

Two age levels will play their year-end provincial championships at Fairfield Island in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack Minor Baseball hosts the midget AAA and peewee AA Provincial Championships Aug.  2-6 at the Fairfield Island diamonds.

British Columbia’s best ball players, 10 teams from the peewee AA level and eight from the midget AAA level, will be competing in a minimum of 38 games over the weekend.

Games start at 9 a.m. on day one.

The opening ceremonies take place at 6 p.m. at diamond D, including several special guests and sponsored by HUB International Barton Insurance.

The opening ceremonies will be followed by a barbecue dinner for players and coaches, sponsored by Fraser Valley Meats.

A skills competition for peewee players, sponsored by Cheam Sports, will take place at  8 p.m. on diamond B.

Fifty-fifty draws will be held all weekend. For corn lovers, some of Chilliwack’s finest will be available.

Round-robin games continue throughout Friday and Saturday. Saturday morning will be kicked off with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Coopers Foods.

Sunday wraps up with semi-finals followed by finals — tentatively  1 p.m. for the peewees and 4 p.m. for the midgets.
