Chilliwack’s Zachary Munroe went home last week to run a five day soccer camp in Kitamaat Village.

Munroe started the Kicks4Kidz camp.

He is originally from New Aiyansh but now lives in Chilliwack where he works for two soccer clubs, Chilliwack F.C. and Fraser Valley F.C.

“I started the program to reach out to my home community back in 2011, to help revive soccer and also deliver structured soccer that the kids may not have been exposed to,” said Munroe. “I do this in hopes that the participants fall in love with the game I love to play and coach.”

He has also run the camp in Greenville, New Aiyansh, Kincolith and Scowlitz. Monroe was impressed that there were 16 to 20 kids every day that participated in the camp over the five days.

“It’s maybe a little early to say if they’re budding soccer stars, but having these soccer stars out for the camp is a great start to getting them hooked on playing the world’s game,” said Munroe.
