Chilliwack Attack snags silver at Provincial Cup in Vernon

The Attack went 3-0 in round-robin play then fell 2-1 to Saanich in a gold-medal game heart-breaker.

Chilliwack FC’s U-13 Attack ended their season with a second place finish at the B.C. Soccer Les Sinnott Memorial Boys Provincial Cup tournament, held July 6-9 in Vernon.

The locals opened with a 3-2 win over Kamloops followed by a 5-1 trouncing of Prince George. James Barth had three goals vs PG.

Chilliwack blanked Vernon 1-0 to earn a spot in the final where they matched up against the Saanich Fusion.

The game started at noon and Chilliwack trailed 1-0 at halftime, playing under the blistering sun.

Attack midfielder Roland Mansell tied the game at 1-1 early in the second half and it seemed the game was heading to extra time. But with mere minutes remaining the Fusion scored the game winning goal off a free kick.

The Attack captain was Wyatt Ciochetti and the goalkeeper was Alijah-Paul Leiper. Other members of the team were Mansell, Luc Brandsma, Carter Brown, Zechariah Cloutier- Schmidtke, Jared Friesen, Jared Hall, Jaden Inkster, Fredrick Mansell, Dylan Marchuk, Logan Saunders, Christopher Sepass, Alexis Victor and Tyler Wulder.

The team was coached by Ernie Victor and Rob Brown.
