BCHL extra: Salmon Arm stopper commits to Valiants

A tough season behind a porous D didn't stop Silverback netminder Kurt Williams from committing to Manhattanville College.

Salmon Arm SilverBacks goalie Kurt Williams has committed to Manhattanville College for the 2012-13 season, where he will tend net for the Valiants.

The 20-year-old Rocky Mountain House, Alta. native finished his final BCHL season as the Salmon Arm's top goalie.

He made 44 appearances, playing the fifth most minutes in the league.

Playing behind a leaky D, Williams managed a 4.50 goals-against average and .890 save percentage.

Manhattanville College is located in Purchase, N.Y. and the hockey team plays in the NCAA Division III Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Valiants currently have three BCHL alums on their roster — J.P. Witkop (Merritt Centennials) Ron Smith (Victoria Salsa, Burnaby Express, Salmon Arm, Nanaimo Clippers) and Evan Michalchuk (Alberni Valley Bulldogs, Salmon Arm).
