BCHL extra: Centennials through to second round

Should the Chilliwack Chiefs get past the Penticton Vees, the Merritt Centennials will be waiting in the second round of the BCHL playoffs.

The Merritt Centennials are the first team to advance to round two of the BCHL playoffs after sweeping their opening round series with the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The Cents knocked off PG 3-1 Tuesday night to complete the four game drubbing. Evan Stack, Chad Brears and Carter Shinkaruk scored the goals, and Lino Chimienti stopped 28 of 29 shots.

Merritt now waits for the winner of the series between the Penticton Vees and surprising Chilliwack Chiefs.

Game one of the Interior conference final would go Mar. 27 in either Merritt (if Chilliwack wins) or Penticton (if the Vees win).
