Spartan swimmers succeed in Saskatoon

Three Chilliwack Spartan swimmers competed at the Canadian Western Championships, held Feb. 14-17 in Saskatoon.

This meet was open to all age groups, with more than 400 of western Canada’s top qualified swimmers in attendance.

Carson Olafson led the way for the locals. Competing in the 16-and-under men's category, he finished fourth in the 100 metre butterfly, seventh in the 800m freestyle, eighth in the 400m freestyle and ninth in the 200m backstroke.

In the same division, Colton Peterson racked up fifth place finishes in the 100 and 200m breaststrokes and 200m individual medley.

Jessie Gibson swam in the 15-and-under girls division. She finished fourth in the 100 and 200m butterflies, adding a ninth in the 50m butterfly and a 10th in the 200m freestyle.
