BCHL announces playoff dates

The BCHL has announced dates for the 2013 Fred Page Cup playoffs that start in mid-March.

The Chilliwack Chiefs have clinched a postseason berth, and will be involved in a best-of-five first round quarter-final against a Mainland division opponent still to be determined.

Based on today's standings, the Chiefs would be the second seed in the division, facing the third-seeded Prince George Spruce Kings. The Surrey Eagles would be the division's top seed, facing the fourth-seeded Langley Rivermen.

If each series went the distance, games would be played on March 15, 16, 18, 19 and 20.

The hosting format is 2-2-1, starting at the home of the higher seed.

The format remains the same in round two, with the winners of those two series moving on to a semi-final round.

If that series goes the distance, games would be played on March 22, 23, 25, 26 and 27.

The team that emerges from the Mainland division will play the Island division winner for the Coastal conference title (the Cliff McNabb trophy).

If that series goes the distance, games would be played between March 29 and April 7, with a schedule determined after the matchup is set.

The winner of that series moves on to face the Interior conference champion for the Fred Page Cup.

Things differ on the Interior conference side.

While the Coastal conference champion must battle through three rounds to reach the Fred Page Cup, the Interior winner needs only dispatch two opponents in best-of-seven series.

The top four in the six-team conference make the postseason, with one-versus-four and two-versus-three matchups.

The hosting format is 2-2-1-1-1, starting at the home of the higher seed.

Dates for the Interior conference first round are March 15, 16, 18, 19, 21, 22 and 24.

Dates for the Interior conference second round are March 29 and 30 and April 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7.
