Clay captures gymnastics award

Gymnastics BC honoured the province’s top athletes, coaches and volunteers at its annual awards banquet this past Saturday in Burnaby.

A Chilliwack native was among 75 individuals who made their dreams a reality this season.

Sardis secondary school student Zachary Clay shared the Owen Walstrom Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year award with North Vancouver’s Scott Morgan.

Clay is rapidly climbing the gymnastics ladder in Canada, and is well on his way to being an Olympic athlete.

He trains and competes with Abbotsford’s Twisters Gymnastics.

Another Chilliwack native was honoured at the banquet.

Jennifer McMullin earned a service award, receiving a pin for 10 years of judging.

Based in Richmond, Gymnastics BC is the provincial governing body for the sport of gymnastics in British Columbia. Get info at gymnastics.bc.ca
