Chilliwack gymnasts excel at provincials
A silver medal performance at last weekend’s BC Gymnastics Championships has Chilliwack’s Zachary Clay looking forward to nationals in May.
Clay competed in the junior division, winning gold on the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault and parallel bars.
Clay competed under the Twisters Gymnastics banner, and will be joined at nationals by Twister teammates Ken Ikeda, Nicolas Garfias, Andry and Dawson Friesen, Cohen Kiers (all from Abbotsford), Steve Chaplin (Mission) and Marquita Morrison.
Morrison, a Chilliwack native, had an impressive outing in the national open division, finishing seventh all-around.
In addition to nationals, she’ll also compete at the Western Canadian Championships, taking place in Langley in May.
