BCHL extra: Young gun commits to Merrimack
The youngest player on the Coquitlam Express roster has landed an NCAA division one scholarship.
Jace Hennig, a 1995-born forward with just nine BCHL games under his belt, has committed to Merrimack College for the 2014-15 season.
The Merrimack Warriors have been a major recruiter of BCHL talent in recent seasons, with six league alums (Kyle Bigos, Mike Collins, Brendan Ellis, Jordan Heywood, Quinn Gould and Kyle Singleton) on their current roster and six more (Izaak Berglund, Wade Murphy, Braxton Bilous, Hennig, Matt Cronin and Austin Plevy) committed for seasons ahead.
Hennig began the current season with the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs of the B.C. Major Midget League and racked up 20 goals and 21 assists in just 18 games.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Port Moody product has one goal and one assist so far in his BCHL career.
