Selective road restrictions frustrate resident

Living close to where the road is blocked off, I find it frustrating to watch the security guards allowing certain people through

Living very close to where the road is blocked off at McDonald Road, I find it frustrating to watch the security guards allowing certain people through that do not reside beyond the barricades, and refusing to allow others past.

Three separate neighbours have simply walked  or biked through, (including two young boys) through, while several others of us have attempted to take a look, to ensure that it is not time to move our belongings from our basements, and we have been refused access.

As the reporting over the last few days has been more vague, due to crisis situations in other areas of the province, I find this disturbing.  We are within a few hundred metres of the dike.  I would not be as upset if the rules were the same for everyone.  If one is stopped, then why isn’t everyone?  And when I’m told that the security guard is “protecting the properties of the residents who live beyond the barricades, I’m a little confused, as they have not been evacuated and I know the families that reside there.  I walk my dogs there nightly--or did until I was told I was not allowed to pass.

I am offended by the selected allowance for some people that is taking place, and I wonder what pull they have that justifying this; considering they live farther away from the river than I do.
