Wolter (Bob) Menger passed away on Monday, August 13th, 2007 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 75 years. He was born on March 23, 1932 in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Bob is survived by Janna, his wife of 52 years; his daughter Lenie; his son Ed; daughter-in-law Eileen; and grandchildren: Jonathan, Nicole, Rebekah and Zachary; and his sisters Clazien, Jannie and Beppie from the Netherlands.
He was predeceased by his parents and his son Bert in 1977.
Dad grew up and received his schooling in the Netherlands. He worked for more than 20 years for Shell, working his way up from messenger boy to system analyst. In 1969 the family emigrated to Canada. He worked for nine years for B.C. Tel in Vancouver, designing computer systems.
Following the death of his son, Bert, Dad accepted a position at Timothy Christian School in Chilliwack as the school accountant. He also taught some courses at the school.
Dad loved his family and enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren. We had many family dinners together. Dad was also active for the church and translated many sermons and articles from Dutch into English.
A visitation is to be held on Thursday, August 16th 2007 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave. Chilliwack.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation, 8920 Broadway, Chilliwack, Reverend Pieter vanRuitenburg Officiant.
Interment in Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain.
Pall Bearers are Ed Menger, Jonathan Menger, Theo Sterkenburg, Bill Stoutjesdyk, Chris Visscher and Frank Vroegop. Bernie Den Hertog honourary pall bearer.
