William passed into the presence of His Heavenly Father on Friday, March 13, 2009 at the Chilliwack Hospital at the age of 85 years. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
William worked at the Swartzes in Halifax for a couple of years. He joined the Services and met Bob Chums. As you know, guess what Bob had? He had a sister Edna who wanted nothing to do with Bill. Ha Ha!! He dated Edna and Bill convinced her to marry him in 1947. Bill then served a stint overseas, was posted to Camp Chilliwack in 1954, he served at three field squadrons until his release in 1966. Bill then worked at York Farms and as a Custodian at the Chilliwack Mall.
He is survived by his wife Edna of 61 years; sister, Jean Baxter King and family in Nova Scotia; Nichole’s family in Nova Scotia; eight children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and numerous friends.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home. Prayers will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic with Mass being held on Thursday, March 19th at 2:00 p.m.
