William Keith MASSIE

William “Keith” Massie passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the Chilliwack General Hospital on December 19, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Keith was born February 5, 1927 in Calgary, Alberta, to James and Elizabeth Massie. The family moved to Chilliwack in 1934.

Keith will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 26 years, Elizabeth; children, Carol (Randy) Greentree, Bob (Carole) Massie, Ken (Sandi) Massie, Sandra (John) Verschuur, Wendy (Perry) Mazurenko, Teresa (Sydney) Tschritter, Mary Connor, Leslie Connor (David), Colleen (John) Braidwood, Alan (Carol) Connor and Maureen (Claude) Leger; 34 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his first wife Ethel; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Keith’s passions in life were family, farming and hunting. His devotion to family was evident in the way that he willingly helped and supported each member of the family, whether that was plumbing, wiring, roofing, watching grandchildren, playing sports or just spending time with them.

Keith enjoyed a very successful career as a dairy farmer. His commitment to progressive management enabled Keith and Ethel to develop one of the top producing herds in Canada. He continued to work the family farm until health limited his involvement.

His favorite hobby off the farm was hunting. He loved hunting pheasants in the Valley and enjoyed numerous hunting trips with friends and family.

Keith married Elizabeth in 1984. The love they shared provided much joy and fulfillment as they shared life with their families and traveled to many destinations, especially enjoying trips to Hawaii.

The family wishes to thank the Drs and staff at Chilliwack Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation for Chilliwack Hospital, 7324 Hurd Street, Mission, BC V2V 3H5 in Keith’s memory.
