June 22, 1929 – December 23, 2008
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather William (Bill) Gregory Bunt. Bill died peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital on December 23, 2008 after a sudden and brief illness.
Bill was born in Mission, then moved to Nanaimo before finally locating to Vancouver where he attended Lord Byng High School and later UBC where he studied education. He moved to Chilliwack in 1952 and became a long-time educator in the area. As Principal of Little Mountain Elementary School for 20 years Bill touched countless lives with his care, humour, and compassion. He also taught in the BC Penal system. In recent years Bill could often be seen making the rounds in Chilliwack on his beloved scooter to visit his friends and generally “taking care of business”. He always could make someone laugh and he had a way of marching to his own drummer that you had to admire. He was very proud of all his family and often bragged of his lovely grandchildren.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Dr. William Percy Bunt and Irene Leila Bunt and his two brothers Merlin Roberts Bunt and Douglas Leslie Bunt. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy, his four children Merlin (Ruth), Bill Jr. (Lynn), Sherri, and Susan (Dave), his ten grandchildren, Jeff, Trevor, Lacey, Hayley, Michael, Whitney, Christopher, Anthony, Danica, and Nicole, as well as two recent great-grandchildren, Jake and Nate.

A graveside service will be held at Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain early in the new year.
