Wilhelm (William) Waldemar Arnold, our loving dad and “Opa” went home to be with his Lord on July 21, 2009, at the age of 92, while a resident of Glenwood Care Centre in Agassiz, BC. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family.
Wilhelm was born on January 27, 1917 in Bechau, West Prussia, Germany, and married to Frieda Oldach in 1943. They lived in Rendsburg, Germany until 1956, when they immigrated to Canada, settling in Waldheim, Saskatchewan. In 1976, they moved to Chilliwack, and then to Agassiz in 2003.
He is survived by his daughter, Helga Driedger (Ron), sons Werner (Leona), Guenter (Debbie), Rolf (Cynthia), grandchildren Tannis, David (Tara), Pamela (Dino), Jason (Dinai), Jeannie (Kurt), Mitch (Barbara), Kim (Jeff), Ryan (Nicole), Mike (Meagan), Amanda (James), 13 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Lydia (Kelowna), Elli (Germany) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Frieda in 2005, daughter Krista, and brothers Albert, Arthur, and Helmut.
A viewing for family and friends will take place Thursday, July 30 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack. The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home followed by a reception. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Logan Manor and Glenwood Care Centre for their loving care of our “Opa”.
