Wilfred Kenneth 'Ken' McManus

July 30, 1937 - March 20, 2017

Ken McManus passed away peacefully March 20, 2017 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus, Ontario. Ken and his beloved first wife, Norma, first moved to Chilliwack in 1969 with their four children. For the better part of the next 15 years, Ken and Norma raised their children in the Chilliwack area, living in Yarrow, Sardis and Chilliwack, until Norma lost her second battle with cancer in 1988. Eventually Ken started to run into health problems of his own, requiring triple bypass surgery, and then, in 1997, a liver transplant, which brought about his move to Ontario. A successful operation allowed him to extend his life, and eventually meet Susan Barth, his spouse of the past 19 years. Ken always seemed to find a way to battle through his various health challenges, which would continue when he contracted diabetes in recent years, and finally pulmonary fibrosis in 2016, which would ultimately bring his battle to an end.

Predeceased by first wife Norma and brother Lyle, Ken is survived by spouse Susan Barth, daughter Cheryl Chambers (Dave), sons Keith (Karen), Bruce (Cheryl), and Paul (Kristi), sisters Gene and Irene, as well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at Melville United Church in Fergus, Ontario on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to London Health Science Centre Transplant Unit.
