Wayne Murray Jones passed away October 4, 2010, at the age of 68. He was born August 2, 1942 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Wayne is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter Shawna (Dave); his two grandchildren Dylan and Skylar.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers: Lloyd, Brian (Marlene); and his sister Wendy Fafard (Bob); his sister-in-law Ruth Lobe; and his brother and sister-in-law Roy Chadsey (Winnie); and Norm Chadsey (Pat).

Wayne started serving in the Military in 1959 where he started his basic training in Chilliwack and became a ”Little Green Monster” 8th Intake. Wayne played hockey for the CFB Chilliwack 3 Field Hockey team where in 1968 they won the First Canadian Forces Hockey Championship.

In 1971 Wayne was posted to Germany where he played Hockey for the 4 Field Hockey team and started a band, the Bad Apples, with his best friend Boots.

Wayne was posted back to Chilliwack in 1975 and remained in the Military until 1982 where he began to work for the Bank of Montreal until his retirement in 1997.

Wayne had a love a music, which was apparent whether he was Dee Jaying with Trevor McDowell or starting his band WD40, with friends. For the last 18 years he has been with one of his best friends, Cheryl Nylund, and their band “Runaway.”

Wayne adored his two grandkids, loved to play hockey and to teach Dylan how to play the guitar, he loved to chase and play with Skylar. Wayne loved his dogs “the boys” and all of his many, many friends, but he especially loved his Legion Branch 280 friends where not only was he a member and a patron, he was also the Entertainment Chairmen, he fulfilled many other duties as well. The Legion was his home away from home.

To his friends and family he was an icon of Chilliwack. He will be forever in our hearts and forever he will be missed.

Memorial Services to be held Sat., Oct. 16, 2010 at 12 noon at Branch #280 RCL.
