Passed away on Sept. 27, 2006 at Cascade Lodge. Born Feb. 23, 1918 in Ninga, Manitoba to Frank and Rachel Roberts. Walter married Ina Lane on Feb. 4, 1943. Following service in the military, they relocated to Richmond where Walter and his father owned and raced thoroughbred horses. After his father’s death, Walter worked for Canfor and Okanagan Helicopters. Upon retirement, Walter and Ina moved to Chilliwack in 1980.
Predeceased by his parents and Ina, Walter married Sarah Walker on Mar. 18, 1988.
Walter enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, reading, and dancing.
Walter is survived by his wife Sarah, son Ken, daughter-in-law Donna, grandson Jeremy, step-children Al (Donna) and Lynn, step daughter-in-law Lynda, step-grandchildren Scott (Carmen), Chris (Christinea), Krista, Brian, Matthew, step great grandchildren Chayse, Faythe, Riley, and Kayla.
Funeral service was held at Henderson’s on Oct. 2, 2006 with Major Haggerty officating Interment at the Legion Cemetary.
