(July 28, 1921 - Feb. 22, 2008)

Viola Marie Henderson passed away after a short illness. She was very proud that she was born in Vancouver, but spent many years living in Alert Bay.

Vi was predeceased by her mother Marie Henderson, her father Harold Henderson and two sisters, Betty and Shirley.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her friend Robert Steuerwald, her many friends she made over the years, and her cat Chrissie.

She was a unique person in that she loved her work and stayed with one employer, the Federal Government for 49 plus years. Even when for the last five years she had to get up at 4 a.m. to catch the bus for Vancouver, B.C.

Vi served in the Armed Forces for 19 years in the CWAC, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

She loved tinkering around the garden and going to the mall looking for bargains. Wal Mart will miss her! She loved to go to the Yale Road McDonald’s for coffee breaks. THANKS GUYS AND GALS!

Vi got into Real Estate late in life, but managed to buy two townhouses – she was a canny buyer.

She loved to travel, to the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and many countries in Europe, Africa, and China. A great traveler she turned out to be.

She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 in Chilliwack. She loved animals including her cat.

In 1985 Vi was nominated for the Order of Canada.

Thanks to the nurses of 5NU for the care they took looking after Vi.

A Celebration of a Life Well Lived will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Chapel at Victoria and College, Friday, March 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.

If family or friends so desire, donations can be made to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation or to your favourite Animal Shelter.

A tea will follow the service. Burial will take place at the Vedder View Gardens Cemetery.
