April 25, 2006

Viola Heather Boyd was born July 27, 1915 in Sardis, in the family home at the corner of Vedder and Promontory Roads. She passed away in her sleep at her residence on April 25, 2006, in her 91st year.

Predeceased by her parents Ed and Elizabeth Thornton, sisters Mabel Bailey and Edna Rannie, brother John Thornton, infant son Edward, first husband Bruce Gleig, son Lorne Gleig and second husband Denis Boyd. Survived by daughter Carol Banman, son-in-law Leo Banman, grandsons Bruce (Sharon), Scott (Ann), great grandchildren Brooke and Chelsea Banman, Randy Boruck and Dawna (David) Maxwell, great, great grandchildren Kenadee and Keetyn Maxwell and step-son Robert (Gayle) Boyd, as well as many nieces, nephews and relatives from near and far.

Viola will be remembered for her enthusiastic participation in every club and organization she joined; Lapidary Club, Rotary-Anns, Chilliwack Women’s Hospital Auxiliary, Horticultural Society, Historical Society and Promontory Women’s Institute, to mention just a few.

But most of all, Viola will be remembered for the friendships she made and nurtured throughout her life’s journey. In keeping with this, the family asks that in-lieu-of flowers you take the time to re-connect with an old friend, go rock hunting, painting, fishing with someone special or just take time to stop and smell the flowers.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. A Quayle, and also to the caring and capable staff at the Waverly for their dedication and professional services.

A celebration of a life well-lived will be held on Sunday May 7, 2006 at 1:00p.m. at The Best Western Rainbow Country Inn, 43971 Industrial Way, (at Lickman Rd. & Hwy. #1) Chilliwack, B.C. Phone 604 – 795 – 3828. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
