Victor Daniel Kliewer

Vic was born on February 1, 1938 in Yarrow, BC and passed away peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital on May 5, 2007. He is survived by his son, Shawn; his brother, Jack; his sisters, Mary and Elsie; daughter-in-law, Nelly; sister-in-law, Reenie; brothers-in-law, David and Alvin; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Sarah, and his dear sister Lydia.

Vic learned to play violin and was a member of the Valley String Orchestra. He attended Yarrow and Chilliwack High Schools, where he loved to sing in a quartet, became president of the Male Choir, and formed the group “The Four Notes”. He completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music at UBC and was married in 1962 and then later settled in Port Coquitlam. Vic was a high school teacher. He started teaching in Vancouver and later moved out to Banting Junior Secondary School in Coquitlam, where he taught band, mathematics and English. He retired early and fulfilled his dream of spending winters in Chapala, Mexico. He took pride in gardening and working on the farm. He always enjoyed classical and “barber shop” music.

A memorial gathering will be held at Broadway Mennonite Brethren Church: 46611 Broadway St., Chillwack, BC on Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 at 11:00 am.

Internment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, BC.
