Veronica (Verna) Mary

(nee Antonio)

(May 31, 1931 – Nov. 12, 2008)

Verna Lange passed away at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 77 years, after an extensive battle with cancer.

She was born and raised at Sexsmith, AB.

At the age of 19, she married Robert Lange on October 26, 1950. Together they farmed in the Kleskun Lake area near Grande Prairie, AB, where they raised their seven children.

In 1990, Verna moved to the Chilliwack, BC where she retired with her husband and continued their passion farming; a small flock of sheep and racing pigeons for 18 years.

Verna will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple things in life, playing cards, socializing with friends and travelling back to Alberta.

Verna is survived by one daughter Dorothy Doll (James) of Grande Prairie, AB; and six sons: Bill of Chilliwack, BC; Daniel (Kerrie) and Ernest (Elizabeth) of Grande Prairie, AB; Henry (Elisabeth) of Mayne Island, BC; Robert (Maureen) and Joe (Connie) of Grande Prairie, AB. She also is survived by 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Antonio; sisters of the Holy Cross of Edmonton, AB; and two brothers: Walter Antonio (Martha) of Bezancon, AB; John Antonio (Ester) of Edmonton AB; sisters-in law, Ruth Antonio of Hythe, AB, Erna Voss of Grande Prairie, AB; brothers-in-law: George Lange (Helen) of Saskatoon, SK, Herbert Lange (Pat) of Brandon, MB; Lydia Hagen (Dennis), Medstead, SK; Dorothea Dryer (John) of Calgary, AB; Emma Marshall (Lyall) of Vernon, BC and Kathy Klemp (Bernie) of Mayerthrope, AB; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert Lange, parents: John and Anna Antonio; brother, Mike Antonio; sister, Nellie Chledowski; and her mother and father in-law, Elizabeth and Adolph Lange.

There will be a small gathering at Verna`s residence on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 1-4 pm.

Funeral services will be held at a later date in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
